Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Civil Defence has launched an ambitious global program aimed at revolutionizing fire safety awareness: “1 Billion Readiness.” This groundbreaking initiative, running from 2025 to 2027, seeks to empower a staggering one billion individuals worldwide with essential fire safety knowledge and skills.
Led by the UAE, “1 Billion Readiness” will leverage a powerful network of 34 countries and 18 leading firefighting organizations. This collaborative effort underscores the UAE’s unwavering commitment to global safety and security, extending its expertise beyond borders.
A cornerstone of this initiative is the “Hope Convoys” project. This humanitarian endeavor will deliver critical firefighting equipment and establish state-of-the-art fire stations in developing nations, bolstering their emergency response capabilities. By providing crucial resources and fostering international cooperation, “Hope Convoys” will empower communities to better protect themselves from the devastating impact of fire.

Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defence, emphasized the initiative’s multifaceted approach. “1 Billion Readiness” will employ a combination of global campaigns, specialized digital platforms, and targeted outreach programs to disseminate vital fire prevention and safety information to a diverse global audience.
The initiative will encompass a wide range of stakeholders, including individuals, government entities, the private sector, and educational institutions. By fostering a culture of safety at all levels, “1 Billion Readiness” aims to create a safer and more resilient world.
Participants who successfully complete the program will be recognized with electronic certificates issued by the prestigious Global Wildfire Monitoring Centre and the Dubai Civil Defence Readiness Programme.
Within the UAE, the initiative will be implemented through comprehensive awareness campaigns, ensuring that every member of the community has access to essential fire safety knowledge and skills.
