Sharjah Municipality Approvals: What Does Your Project Need?
Sharjah Municipality approvals cover the permits, drawing reviews and inspections required for different types of building work (constructing or modifying a building, fitting out a commercial unit, opening a business or carrying out maintenance).
The Sharjah Municipality approval route depends on the project, its intended use and the other authorities involved, such as Sharjah Civil Defense.
DAEM Contracting company helps you obtain every building-related approval in Sharjah, the approvals you need depend on your project type, whether it’s construction or fit-out.

How DAEM Contracting Handles a Sharjah Municipality Approval Application
The Sharjah Municipality approval process starts with identifying the required approval, such as a building permit. Then we prepare the documents (architectural, structural and MEP drawings) and coordinate the required NOCs and external authority clearances. After that, we submit the application and respond to the authority’s comments.
The five stages below show what to expect, from the initial review through to handover:
A construction project in Sharjah may require approvals from other authorities alongside Sharjah Municipality, such as the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA).
Depending on the project, the following authorities and parties may also need to be involved:
Three approvals stood between the plot and the keys
Sharjah Municipality: confirms the project meets local building codes and regulations.
Sharjah Civil Defense: confirms fire and life-safety requirements are met.
SEWA: sets the requirements for the electricity and water connections.
The brief. A modern private villa, built by one team from the first drawings to the day of handover.
The result. The keys went to the owner in under 18 months, with all three approvals in place and the villa built on site by the same team that secured them. Because approvals and construction sat with one team, authority requirements went straight into the work on site, with no hand-off between a consultant and a contractor.
