All types of buildings (residential, commercial, and industrial) need this certificate. There is a fire safety certificate for every type of building, depending on the danger level. 

For example:

A chemical facility (industrial building) that contains hazardous materials needs more strict laws and qualifications to get a certificate, while a residential building that does not have many hazardous materials needs fewer requirements.

 The Istifa certificate is valid for one year from the issued date, and the renewal process is accrued online using the DCD online portal.

Why do you need a safety certificate?

It is important to get a safety certificate or ISTIFA to increase safety, comply with the UAE safety and life code, comply with the UAE laws, avoid penalties and boost trust.

The requirements for ISTEFA certificate are: Title deed and Passport copy for facility owners, Ejari , Annual Maintenance Contract and Trade license of the company for companies under Dubai Economic Department (DED). For companies under free zone, an Ejari is required in addition to the previous documents

How to get a safety certificate?

Login, select the service, fill in the application, attach documents, pay online, receive the certificate.

To get a safety certificate, you can apply online and ease the mission for yourself. after logging into the DCD online portal, there are 6 steps to follow to get the Istifa certificate:

  • Login
  •  Select service from Smart Services List
  •  Fill in Application Data 
  • Attach documents (if applicable) 
  • Pay online (in case of fees)
  •  Receipt of outputs  (electronically or through delivery companies)

Fees and time frame for DCD safety certificate 

ISTIFA certificate fees are 500 AED for all types of safety certificates (companies under free zone- facilities owners- companies under DED). An additional 20 AED is added as a knowledge and innovation fee.

The certificate is valid for one year after the issued date then it needs a renewal. Expired certificates expose the owner to financial fines and severe penalties.
